Lori Cicchini is a Fine Art photographer based in Canberra, Australia. Her studies include Fine Art and a Bachelor in Photography of which she has received numerous academic awards including the 2013 Australian National University prize cup.

Lori’s work focuses on the female form, it is an expression captured by her female gaze that lures the viewer into the power and strength of her images with a curious intent of what lies further in the story.

Cicchini's photography work has been described as "emotive" and "narrative", some of which can be "dark and provoking" yet at the same time "peaceful and beautiful".

Where there is light, there is also indeed darkness with a gothic-tinged duality which slowly begins to unfurl. Amid ethereal visions of feminine vulnerability coupled with formidable strength, something lurks beneath the shadows. Stirring reflections on the mortal coil of existence and the ever-fluctuating condition of one’s inner emotional world, all beautifully poetic despite the sobering truth. Sunshine occasionally makes way for storm clouds and withered roses - such is the law of nature.

Lori Cicchini’s photographic ruminations delicately address the swinging pendulum of this thing called life. To be or not to be certainly bubbles up to the surface. What does it really mean to be human? To rise up to the outer edges of the ether? To languish in the soul’s darkest chasms? Perchance to dream an impossible dream? Upon poring over the Australian artist’s imagery, affirmation grips the soul. Even life’s unwelcome twists and turns reflect the beautifully imperfect truth of the collective us.

Lori Cicchini’s artfully seductive storytelling journeys through the myriad layers and inner contemplations of existence. Hope, love, impermanence, longing, emotional fragility, rebirth, connection, and occasionally desperation. Whether during moments of prostration, exultation, or partial ruination, Lori captures our shared experiences as nature intended – raw and soul-baring yet still exquisitely lambent.
